Macaw

We got a new macbook yesterday, and in the process of migrating data from our old powerbook, I came across this poem that I forgot writing. It’s dated Dec. 15, 2004, for whatever that’s worth.

In the street, I saw
A mute macaw
He did not sing
or speak

A suicide note,
in birdling, wrote,
dangled from his beak.

“Goodbye cruel world.
I’m just a bird.
And, frankly, I am beat.”

A car came along –
more Vrooom than Song –
and spread him across
concrete.

Stuff

By the way, I provided a bass solo for Heuristics Inc’s Songfight entry Fight The Sea a couple weeks ago.

Check it out in the songfight archive.

At the moment I am finishing up a mix for a new Suave Noise Youth track for the Songfight due tomorrow.

Lastly, and unrelated to the music, I was just challenged to write a story with exactly 50 words. Here it is:

The food danced down the conveyor as the vapid cashier began her
tally. After forty-five minutes of toddler-juggling and
rusty-cart-wrestling, this brief pause is a Gift from the Grocery Gods.

Soon the kids will be chained to the TV.

I’ll have a joint and a bubblebath.

Uhh.. Where’s my purse?
