Musical Friends

Well, I was hoping to get another SongFight song done this week, but I have run out of time. In the interest of updating my blog, I submit the following unsolicited blurb:

Perhaps you have recently stumbled across this site in search of new and exciting music? I have a lot of songs on here, as you can hopefully see, but I’d also like to direct your attention to the “More Music” links on the left there. These are websites for some of my musical friends. Check them out, and tell them Dr. Kong Balong sent you.

In particular, check out heuristicsinc.com. He’s been working like a dog making his site a more interesting internet destination, so hop over there and give him some feedback. I personally think that his new ambient improv piece senzeni na (whatever that means) is wonderful.

RemixFight

Remember that Blind Mime remix I mentioned a few weeks ago? Well that’s become the pilot remix contest for a new SongFight! spinoff — RemixFight.com.

It’s similar to SongFight! in that multiple artists do a remix of a given song, and the public votes on which they like the best. Hopefully this site will gain popularity, because it’s a fun and interesting idea.

Check it out!

 Audio: Fire Bomb
project: Starfinger
mp3: starfinger/starfinger-firebomb.mp3 (m3u)

Hey, I made my triumphant (ha!) return to songfight this week, with Firebomb.

Check out the Starfinger entry on the green fight here: songfight.org/green.

I’ll put the mp3 up on this site later next week.

BP Tracks

I just realized that we had a couple Brainpipe tracks lying around that I never put up on this site. Heuristics Inc and I recorded these some time last year. An interesting thing about these is that they have sounds generated by a Handspring Visor (PDA) on them. We recorded these March 2003.

I give you…

Tickling Tables

and

Percussionary Measures.

State of the Kongbalong Address

I thought I’d take this opportunity to publicly document my musical todo list, so everybody would have something to look forward to:

1) Master the next Heuristics Inc/ Tapegerm album
2) Assemble “Curse of the Mommy” remix CD
3) Put together secret CRT/Tapegerm double CD
4) Master Brainpipe CD
5) Remixes, including H.INc. and Jack Shite
6) Secret cover song
7) SongFight, dammit! 8) Initiate secret looping project

Alas, time is not on my side.

Comics

This isn’t about music per se, but I’ve been having a lot of fun with Brad’s (of Brad Sucks fame) cool site stripcreator.com.

See the comics I made here!

Audio: Skin Dub (Blind Mime Remix)
project: Dr. Kong
mp3: kong/remix/kongbalong-skin_dub.mp3 (m3u)

I did a “remix” for the Blind Mime’s His Skin Disguise remix project.

The remix project is hosted here.

New Soup Remix

My good buddy Heuristics Inc. just did a new remix of More Than Soup.

It’s pretty cool! Check it out here. Thanks Bill!

Lessons

The Berklee College of Music has a new site giving away free music lessons.

I just found this today, but it seems like a great idea. Hopefully the content will be worthwhile (I’m gonna learn how to play my electric guitar dammit).

Disposition of Id

I spoke to the other half of the Disposition of Id yesterday for the first time in way too long. In honor of this, I cleaned up the page of our songs, and you can check it out here.

It is very weird stuff.
